My dear Professional Colleagues,

As I pen down my final message as Chairman of the Surat Branch of WIRC of ICAI, I reflect on this incredible journey with immense gratitude. It has been an honour to serve this esteemed branch, and I would like to begin by expressing my heartfelt thanks to my two Chairmen, CA. Nikesh Kothari and CA. Arun Narang, under whose leadership I gained invaluable knowledge and a strong foundation to grow as a professional. My deepest appreciation also goes to my dedicated team CA. Ashwin Bhauwala (Vice Chairman & WICASA Surat Chairman), CA. Shailesh Lakhankiya (Secretary), CA. Preetesh Shah (Treasurer), MCMs CA. Manthan Chawat, CA. Chimpu Lapsiwala, and CA. Joni Jain for their unwavering commitment and collaboration throughout the year.

I am also grateful for the constant guidance and support of CA. Ishwar Jivani, RCM, and CA. Jay Chhaira Sir, whose encouragement has played a pivotal role in our journey. My sincere appreciation also extends to our Past Chairmen, whose vision and leadership have laid a strong foundation for the growth and success of the Surat Branch. Their invaluable contributions continue to inspire and guide us in our pursuit of excellence.

At this juncture, I extend my congratulations to the newly elected managing committee members of the Surat Branch for the term 2025-29. I am confident that under their leadership, the branch will scale new heights. My best wishes also go to CA. Jay Chhaira Sir on being elected as Central Council Member and CA. Ishwar Jivani on being re-elected as Regional Council Member for the new term 2025-29.

Theme Address – Leading Lights: Inspiring the Future.

This theme beautifully embodies the spirit of our profession, where each of us serves as a guiding force, continuously striving for excellence while illuminating the path for others. Chartered Accountants have long been the torchbearers of financial integrity, governance, and innovation. Through our collective efforts, we strengthen the profession, drive change, and contribute to a more resilient future.
Over the past year, I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented and dedicated professionals. From thought-provoking discussions and impactful seminars to collaborative initiatives, every experience has reaffirmed my belief in the power of unity and knowledge-sharing.

The role of a leader is to inspire, ignite, and illuminate the way forward. True leadership is not measured by personal milestones but by the empowerment of future leaders. As I pass the baton, I do so with confidence, knowing that the future of our branch is in capable hands. I have no doubt that my successor will continue to uphold the values of dedication, passion, and excellence that we have cultivated together.

A Year of Growth, Collaboration, and Milestones

As I conclude my tenure, I look back on a year filled with remarkable achievements and initiatives that strengthened our professional fraternity:Honouring Senior Members – Recognizing the invaluable contributions of members aged 60+ and 75+ years, celebrating their journey and legacy in the profession.

Empowering Women Professionals – Successfully organizing a Women’s Residential Refresher Course (RRC) and a Women Entrepreneur Exhibition, fostering growth and networking.

20 Days, 20 Local Speakers – A one-of-its-kind initiative showcasing the knowledge and expertise within our own city.
Wealth Wisdom Series – The first-ever full series on financial wisdom featuring all local speakers, promoting financial literacy among members.

Embracing Technology – Conducted four batches of AI in ICAI training and two specialized workshops on Power BI & Dashboard, equipping members with cutting-edge skills.

Diploma & Specialized Courses – Successfully conducted two batches of the Diploma in Information Systems Audit (DISA), one batch of FEMA Course, and one batch of Ind AS Course, enhancing members’ technical expertise.
Members’ RRC – Reviving the tradition of a Members’ Residential Refresher Course after a long gap, fostering learning in a collaborative setting.

Support for National Initiatives – Actively participated in the Har Ghar Tiranga movement, strengthening our commitment to national pride.
Digital Advancements – Launched a new website for the Surat Branch and introduced a refined design language for the e-newsletter, enhancing accessibility and engagement.

Structured Planning & Execution – Implemented an Activity Calendar with a month-wise schedule, ensuring systematic and efficient event organization.

Gratitude & A New Beginning

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to every member, student, and staff of the Surat Branch for your trust, encouragement, and active participation. Your enthusiasm has been the driving force behind our success, and I deeply cherish the memories we have created together.

It was made possible only through the unwavering support of my esteemed committee members, past chairmen, colleagues, and the vibrant CA fraternity of Surat. Each program, initiative, and milestone we achieved was a testament to our collective effort and shared vision for professional excellence.

A special note of appreciation goes to the Women’s Wing of the Surat Branch, whose dedication and initiatives have significantly contributed to the empowerment and professional growth of women Chartered Accountants. Through programs like the Women’s RRC, Women Conference & Entrepreneur Exhibition, and various skill-building sessions, they have fostered a strong and supportive network, enabling women professionals to excel and lead. Their commitment has been instrumental in making our branch more inclusive and dynamic.

As I step into a new phase, I carry with me invaluable learnings, cherished friendships, and a profound sense of fulfilment. While my tenure in this role may be ending, my commitment to the profession remains steadfast, and I will continue to contribute to its growth and strength.

08th February – Recent Amendments in RERA

Stay updated with the latest regulatory changes, compliance requirements, and their impact on the real estate sector. This insightful seminar is a must-attend for professionals engaged in real estate advisory, audits, taxation, and compliance. 

09th February – Pickleball Tournament:

13th February – “Seminar on Co-operative Society Audits: Key Insights for Excellence.”

Featuring distinguished speakers from the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Gujarat State. They will provide in-depth insights into the auditing process, compliance regulations, and the critical role of audits in enhancing the governance and transparency of co-operative societies. This is an excellent opportunity to hear directly from the authority on co-operative society audits, gain valuable knowledge, and stay updated with the latest developments in the sector.

15th February – “Seminar on Sunrise opportunities.”

Featuring two engaging sessions designed to enhance your professional expertise. The first session, “How to Appear Before Appellate Tribunal by Shri Pawan Singh Sir Hon. Judicial member ITAT Bench Surat,” will provide practical insights into the tribunal process, effective representation techniques, legal aspects, and the role of CAs in appellate matters.

The second session, “IPO Advisory: New Frontiers for CAs,” will explore emerging opportunities in the IPO space, covering regulations, compliance requirements, the role of CAs, and key industry trends. This seminar is an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge and explore new career avenues.

18th February – Post-Budget Analysis of Union Budget 2025 & Charge Hand Over 

In the Post-Budget Analysis, CA. (Dr.) Girish Ahuja will provide an in-depth breakdown of the Union Budget 2025, highlighting key provisions and their impact on various sectors, along with strategic insights for implementation.

The Charge Handover Function marks an important leadership transition, recognizing the contributions of the outgoing team and welcoming the new leadership.

(CABF):Previous Month Programs:

04th January – Seminar on FEMA, FDI-ODI-NRI: Practical Issues & Compounding.

A comprehensive seminar addressing practical issues related to FEMA, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Overseas Direct Investment (ODI), and Non-Resident Indian (NRI) regulations, along with insights into compounding provisions. The session provided a thorough understanding of the regulatory landscape and its challenges.

11th January – Practical Issues in Form 15CA-15CB and Schedule FA in ITR.

This program focused on the intricacies of filing Form 15CA-15CB and the inclusion of Schedule FA in Income Tax Returns (ITR). Professionals gained valuable insights into compliance challenges, best practices, and key aspects of tax filings.

16th, 17th, 18th & 19th January – Surat CA Cricket League.

The Surat CA League was a celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and passion for cricket, uniting professionals in an electrifying tournament. Players displayed exceptional skill and determination, making every match a thrilling experience. Beyond the game, the event fostered networking, camaraderie, and a refreshing break from professional commitments, strengthening the bonds within the CA fraternity

24th January- An Outreach Programme On “GST Amnesty Scheme”.

The Outreach Program on GST Amnesty Scheme, organized jointly with the State Tax Department, focused on creating awareness about the scheme’s benefits. The session provided insights into rectifying past non-compliances, eligibility criteria, application processes, and practical implications. Taxpayers were guided on how to settle outstanding dues by paying the tax and availing waivers on interest and penalties, ultimately reducing litigation risks. This initiative aimed to empower businesses with a clear understanding of the scheme and help them make informed decisions.

25th January – Program on “Financial Planning and Wealth Management.”

This program explored strategic financial planning, investment management, and wealth accumulation, providing valuable insights for individuals and professionals looking to secure long-term financial success.

26th January – Republic Day Celebration & Meet & Greet Program with Newly Qualified Chartered Accountants.

A moment to honour the values of our nation on Republic Day, followed by a special Meet & Greet session celebrating the achievements of newly qualified Chartered Accountants. We congratulated them for reaching this milestone and welcomed them into the professional fraternity.

28th January- Start up Samvad

An engaging event that brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, industry professionals, and investors.
The event featured a panel discussion where startup founders, investors, and professionals shared insights on strategies, challenges, and opportunities in the startup ecosystem. Additionally, the Pitch Perfect Session provided a platform for innovative entrepreneurs to present their business ideas before a distinguished jury panel of investors and mentors.

Members of the CA fraternity had the opportunity to explore potential investments in promising startups, contributing to the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The event fostered knowledge sharing, networking, and investment opportunities, making it a valuable initiative for professionals and aspiring business leaders alike.

31st January-2nd February – WOFA (World Forum of Accountants)

The World Forum of Accountants gathered accounting professionals from around the world to discuss emerging trends, challenges, and key issues within the accounting profession. This forum provided valuable networking opportunities and insights from industry leaders, contributing to shaping the future of accounting globally.

Post-Qualification Courses:

04th January to 16th February: Diploma in Information Systems Audit 3.0

It is an advanced program designed to enhance expertise in the field of information systems audit. The course covers critical areas such as IT governance, risk management, cybersecurity, and audit frameworks. It equips professionals with the necessary skills to assess, evaluate, and manage the technology infrastructure and systems of organizations, ensuring compliance, security, and efficiency. This diploma provides a significant opportunity to advance one’s career in the ever-evolving world of information systems.

15th February to 16th March: Certificate Course on IND AS (Indian Accounting Standards)

This course, starting in February, aims to master the principles of IND AS, providing a deeper understanding of financial reporting in India and keeping participants compliant with the latest regulatory changes.

These programs and courses were designed to equip participants with cutting-edge knowledge and skills, enhancing their expertise in various areas. With a focus on data, AI, audit practices, and accounting standards, we provided invaluable learning opportunities to ensure professionals are well-equipped to excel in their careers.

05th, 6th, & 7th February: Certificate Course on Artificial Intelligence (AI) (Batch 3).

Join us for the Certificate Course on Artificial Intelligence, a unique opportunity to delve into the dynamic world of AI and its applications. This program is meticulously designed to enhance your understanding and equip you with the knowledge to harness the power of AI effectively.

18th, 19th & 20th February: Certificate Course on Artificial Intelligence (AI) (Batch 4).

This three-day course will focus on the practical applications of Artificial Intelligence in various industries. Participants will explore AI tools, techniques, and their impact on business, along with hands-on learning to develop skills that can be applied in real-world scenarios.
